NOCTILUCENT CLOUDS
I witnesses a rare weather phenomenon this week. In all the years of looking towards the skies, I’ve never seen anything like this. Unfortunately, I could only photograph these amazing noctilucent clouds with my iPhone 17 Pro. However, they are truly beautiful if you ever get the chance to see them.
They form about 50 miles high above the ground, which is far higher than any other regular clouds and they are made up from tiny ice crystals.
They are visible only under special conditions:
After sunset or before sunrise, when the Sun is below the horizon for an observer but still illuminates these extremely high clouds.
They appear as electric blue or silvery-white, often with delicate ripples, waves, or wispy filaments.
They are most commonly seen during summer at latitudes between 50° and 70° north and south.
